Look at the course from land. Check land marks for turns. Swim the course in advance.
Focus on finishing chute. Following are some tips for how to manage the start of the race. Take slow methodical breaths at the start.  Rotate eyes forward to sight the buoys. Wiggle fingers on recovery to relax arms. Dorsiflex  ankles at end of swim to reduce ankle and calf cramping.
